In 1956

Spencer Gross founded his company after introducing aerial photogrammetry to the northwest in 1948. He was a visionary who realized the value of combining aerial images with ground surveys to provide mapping quicker and at a lower-cost than traditional methods; and by steadily expanding the capabilities of his company, he earned a national reputation for quality, innovation, and integrity.

These core values still govern the quality of work produced at SBG, and in-tandem with a continuous investment in new technology, we have been successful in preserving long-term relationships with our clients.

The company maintains local, regional, and national presences in diverse technical and professional societies, in addition to an emphasis on continuous education, which helps to uphold the highest standards for photogrammetry.

SBG is still owned and run by a registered engineer and has on staff an internationally recognized expert in the field of LiDAR. By combining proven photogrammetric methods with the latest technology, we are able to increase the amount of information available (such as under trees and vegetation), while reducing the cost and delivery time of many projects.

SBG continues to serve a wide range of clients, such as Planners, Engineers, Environmental, Forestry, Lawyers, Utilities, Local, State, and Federal Government, as well as retail clients who purchase aerial photos from 1963 to the present day.

Aerial Photography:
High quality aerial photography utilizing AGPS and IMU technology, flown from 1”=50’ to 1”=5000’

Digital Mapping:
Topographic and planimetric mapping, using analytical and softcopy techniques, designed to meet a range of accuracy requirements from 1”=20’ design-level maps to 1”=4800’ general planning maps; delivered in CAD and GIS formats.

Digital Terrain Models (DTM):
Surfaces generated from photogrammetrically collected data, with vertical accuracies starting at 0.04’ and delivered in current CAD formats.

Orthophotography:
SBG combines AT and photogrammetry to create DTM and planimetric data enabling the Digital Imagery group to create orthophotos at any scale supported by the original photography.

LiDAR:
Airborne Laser Mapping generating Digital Terrain Models over bare earth and vegetated areas (under
vegetation).

Aerotriangulation:
Traditional analytical or softcopy AT services; unlimited number of photos with IMU photography and AGPS data.

Film Scanning Services:
High resolution black-and-white and color scans created in a clean-room environment from negative or positive films.

Photographic Reproduction Services:
Color and Black-and-White Contact Prints, Diapositives, and Photo enlargements and mosaics, (up to 4’ x 8’)
